I founded Planetary Printing Press as a design studio and print shop focused on reimagining the art of mapmaking. The brand was built around a sense of wonder and exploration, with a visual language that extends from digital design into printed products, packaging, merchandise, marketing materials, and a retail environment.
Concept: Brand Identity and Packaging System Design
Produced Materials and Packaging
Designing Across Products and Packaging
I designed a growing catalog of map-based products and supporting brand materials, including archival art prints, packaging tubes, vinyl stickers, business cards, marketing collateral, an online storefront, and a pop-up retail booth.
The collection ranges from city maps to more conceptual work, with editions produced in multiple colorways and formats. Select city maps were designed at 24 × 36 inches and printed in-house on archival-grade, acid-free matte paper.
Because I manage production directly, I design with the finished object in mind from the beginning, preparing production-ready artwork and considering color, materials, scale, and output throughout the process. This gives me a practical understanding of how visual decisions translate from screen to physical product across large-format prints, packaging, merchandise, and retail applications.
Extending the Brand into a Physical Space
I also designed a 10 × 10-foot retail booth for pop-up events, carrying the brand into a physical environment through signage, display graphics, merchandise, and product presentation. The goal was to create an inviting experience that drew people in and gave them a tangible way to engage with the brand.
The booth extended the same visual language across digital, print, packaging, product, and environmental applications, creating a consistent experience from screen to storefront.
