Illustrating a complex story while keeping the viewer engaged can be challenging. As the lead designer, I bridged the gap between technical and creative work, ensuring the final illustration was approachable for its intended audience while also fostering collaboration between the engineering and graphic design teams.
In the bustling e-commerce landscape, over 3 million freight vehicles travel 100,000 miles annually to deliver goods across the US. This project aimed to answer key questions about freight planning through creative visual storytelling: What is freight? What freight planning services exist? I designed an infographic that illustrates freight planning by following the journey of a parcel from the factory to your front door.
To keep the design approachable, it needed to be simple but elegant. To achieve this, I opted for an isometric perspective using line art as the basis for the visual language. The result is a fun and playful style to tell the story. Below is a snippet of the visual asset library I developed which served as the building blocks for the final infographic:
The journey from the initial concept to the final design required us to put our heads together and collaborate through creative problem solving. To see where we began, below is the concept sketch we brainstormed before development started.
